My first memoire

Decoding AIgens representation of holocaust on TikTok

Three different story but the same history

My memoire is centered around holocaust representation made by AI and broadcasted on social medias such as Instagram, Facebook and (especially) TikTok.

What the three videos on top of this page have in common is that they all represents a fragment of Holocaust history (Auschwitz camp, Anne Frank story, and diverse stories such as the occupation or the ghetto of Warsaw).
They were all generated by LLM language to give an insight of these moments of horror in humanity history.

The question thought that no one seems to ask is : Is it acceptable that such representations exist?

What is my method of analysis ?

It is quite common in media and communication sciences to use a methodology that ones could call « mixed« . Especially in numerical social network studies, scientists have to deal with wide amount of data that can be to different to encode with limited criteria like they would do in quantitative studies.

For this project, I’m facing this exact challenge. I aim to analyse 45 posts divided in 3 categories as the 3 videos on top of this page. After a qualitative analysis of them, I’ll extract the first twenty comments of their « comment section », which will leave me 900 comments to explore and analyse to see if individuals ask questions about the ethic of publishing such content.

Comming soon…
